What is Dollar For?
Dollar For is a national nonprofit, not exclusive to The BREAST Fund. Anyone in the U.S. can use their free service to pursue hospital charity care for any kind of medical debt. They've been doing this since 2012.
Why is this Step 1?
Nonprofit hospitals are legally required to offer charity care. We ask applicants to pursue that free hospital forgiveness first, so our grant dollars go toward debt with nowhere else to go.

Dollar For prepares your hospital application.
They will work with the hospital to get you medical debt relief.
The hospital reviews and decides how much of your bill they will forgive.
Bring us what’s left.
How long does it take?
According to Dollar For’s website, it can take anywhere from 6 to 10+ weeks. Since determination from Dollar For is required as the first step in your application with The BREAST Fund, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. Applicants without this determination will not be accepted for this first round.
